My intent as an artist is to make the impossible look possible. From an early age, I always wanted to draw fantastical creatures and weird technology. Through many years of schooling, I’ve learned that the steps to that goal come from drawing from observation. In order to create things that break the rules of reality, you have to know those rules first. You have to be able to break down complex shapes into their simplest form. In order to stretch proportions, you have to be able to draw them correctly to start with. To that end, I spend my time studying forms in life drawing, such as portraiture and still life projects. I also incorporate clay sculpture in order to have a foundation for more fantastical creations.
